Add and manage users
Update a portal account's details
What this does
Portal users maintain most of their own contact, security and payment details from the portal dashboard. A few changes need an administrator — this article covers both sides.
Steps
Name, email, phone and address are the only fields that must be filled in to save.
-
01
The portal user signs in and lands on the portal dashboard.
-
02
They click Edit information under their contact details.
-
03
They update their name, email, phone, company name, mailing address, and invoice delivery preference. Extra fields may appear depending on their country and yours.
-
04
They click Save Address — or Discard to go back untouched.
Payment methods
From the dashboard, Payment methods lists what they have saved. To add one, they pick a payment method, enter the details and save; to remove one, they click the 🗑 (Delete payment method) icon and confirm. Payment details cannot be edited — an out-of-date card is deleted and re-entered.
Connection & security
The Connection & Security page holds five sections:
- Change Password — current password, new password, Change Password.
- Two-factor authentication — an alert shows the current state, with a link to enable or disable it.
- Passkeys — Add Passkey asks for the password, then a name, then hands over to the browser to create it. Existing passkeys can be renamed or deleted.
- Revoke All Sessions — Log out from all devices ends every session except the current one, after a password confirmation.
- Delete Account — irreversible. It asks for the password and the login name, and can add the email and phone to a block list so nothing is ever sent there again.
What an administrator does instead
- Go to Settings › Users › Manage Users.
- Clear the Internal Users filter and add Portal Users from the search panel.
- Open the portal user. The Email field is the address they sign in with, and you can correct it here.
- Use the Security tab on their contact to Change password or Invite to use 2FA.
Common mistakes
- Trying to change a country after documents exist for that account — it is locked from then on, and only an administrator can help.
- Confusing the Login with the email: editing the login changes the username, not where mail is delivered.
- Editing a saved payment method. It cannot be edited; delete it and enter it again.
